What makes them different?

These birds eat grass… lots of it! Moving them daily to fresh pasture maximizes forage intake, loading them with vitamins and minerals and stimulating their immune system. By contrast, free-range chickens spend everyday in the same yard, creating a pathogenic dirt scape from overgrazing and concentrated manure. Moving our chickens grows happy healthy birds, healthier meat and distributes the manure, rejuvenating the soil. It’s a win, win, win!

Why are they dark?

The darker color is due to the presence of beta-carotene in the fat and muscle tissue. Our body uses it to make vitamin A and as a powerful antioxidant. It is a result of the grass and quality feed and a striking visual indication of the nutrient density of the meat.

Are they organic?

Our birds eat local, organic, non-GMO feed and fresh green grass from our chemical-free pastures. Not one pharmaceutical or unnatural substance ever touches their body. They meet every criteria “organic” implies, however they are not “certified organic,” as the certification is prohibitively expensive.

Are they safe to eat?

Yes! Safer and cleaner than what you get at the store! The birds are processed at DRR Processing a local USDA inspected facility. And because they are moved everyday, the birds are super clean, not requiring the numerous chemical baths needed conventionally, to clean the carcass.
